Over the next three Sundays, Pastor Ben, Pastor Owen, and I will be taking a brief break from our sermon series on Luke and will be preaching on passages of Scripture that address the three primary areas of ministry at Oakwood where our members serve and participate - worshiping, teaching, and sharing Jesus.  At the same time, our small groups will begin their studies together this fall by looking at a small book, I Am a Church Member, by Thom Rainer.  These discussions will help us all to re-program the expectations of our roles in our church family - to move from being a "consumer" to being a joyful, privileged, serving church member. It is our prayer that Oakwood will more and more be known for the commitment and Christ-like character of our fellowship than for any programs or services that we provide.
