National and International Outreach

national: Impact WV

Each year since1999 Oakwood has sent a missions team to Fairmont, West Virginia to partner with the local church Christ Community Church (PCA) through Mission to the World's (MTW's) one-and two-week program. In 2016 MTW closed its offering of Fairmont as a mission trip option. Due to the overwhelming interest in continuing in Fairmont, IMPACT WV was formed. As of Spring 2018, Impact WV is now offered under Mission to North America in their Short-term Missions area under Urban and Mercy Ministries. Our missions team serves a needy local community in a word and deed ministry, repairing homes and developing close relationships with the host families. Unique equipping for ministry, team building, and individual Christian growth occurs as the gospel is lived out in both word and deed. Our team works in Fairmont for a week each summer staying at Daysprings Camp and traveling daily to the worksite of the host family. The team spends their days working on the project and spending time with the host family. It has been long said that your mindset is to go to West Virginia to change it, but the reality of the situation is that with the Lord's hand, West Virginia and the experience will change you. This is a great opportunity for teens, families with children, singles, and individuals of all ages. There is a cost for this trip which is used to purchase construction materials and supplies as well as for lodging and meals.

If you have questions about Fairmonts one-week mission trip and the type of work being done in West Virginia, please contact Ann or Dan Johnstonbaugh (814-234-2240) or Mark Jackson (814-234-4325).

International: Operation Christmas Child

Each fall, filled boxes are sent to impoverished children around the globe as a means of sharing the love of Christ.
